Audi A6 / Q7 Steering Lock Repair
This service addresses failures in the Access Start Authorization J518 module, commonly found in Audi A6/S6 (2005-2011) and Q7 (2007-2015) models.
Common Symptoms:
- No start and no response from the key in the ignition or proximity access (Start button).
- Issues typically arise from the Start/Stop Authorization Module and Electronic Ignition Switch, which are responsible for key/transponder recognition, steering wheel locking/unlocking, and powering up all vehicle modules.
If there are problems with any components of the lock module (actuator motor, sensing micro switches, relay) or the integrated immobilizer system microprocessor/PCB, the module will fail to provide power to Terminal 15 (ignition on), resulting in no ignition and engine start. This may trigger a fault code: “00288 – Steering Column Lock Actuator (N360) – Defective.”
- Warranty: 2 years on the repair
